History of the Company

In 1878, Prosper Arbeau founded, with his son Jean, the “ARBEAU Père et Fils” company, which aim was to market produce harvested in the region.

Then, Jean-Louis and Cécile Arbeau took over. They worked as merchants of grains, fertilizers, fodders, wheat, but they also made brooms and distilled.

Their son, Pierre Arbeau (1913-2002), who graduated from the Superior Commerce School of Toulouse, expanded the wine activity and the distillery. His efforts constituted a major growth in the company.  

In 1982, Pierre’s son, Jean-Claude Arbeau (1946-2004) became the managing director. He developed the bottling sector. From that time, the notoriety of the limited company has been growing in the whole region.

In 2002, Géraud Arbeau becomes managing director and since 2005, his sister Anne Arbeau has joined him to run the company.

Today, the Arbeau company, now called “Vignobles Arbeau” (Arbeau’s vineyards), is involved in the market of red, white and rosé wines of all quality (wines produced in a defined style with a guarantee of origin, table wines, wines produced in a specific region), with different packaging available (bottles, bag-in-box, bulk...).

The trade of the southwestern red and rosé wines (80.000 hl) as well as the southwestern white wines (50.000hL) is handled at the Labastide-Saint-Pierre winery.

The Arbeau wine company owns a wine-making center used to vinify southwestern grapes into red, rosé and white wines, with the high quality of the “Vignobles Arbeau” wines allows us to keep up some privileged relationship with numerous local producers who have been our regular partners for many years. 

Last but not least, the exclusive distribution of Château Coutinel’s harvest is the jewel of the family property.

A modern workshop of bottle ( 2 millions bottles per year) and bag-in-box packaging (60.000 per year) permits the quick preparation of varied orders. 

“Les Divins”, our shop located in Labastide-Saint-Pierre, greets and serves a faithful clientele in ever-increasing numbers. 

The distillery, which is still an important activity of “Vignobles Arbeau”, has a production capacity of 30 hl of alcohol per day, and produces among others the white or woody Languedoc marc spirit.

With its dynamic and motivated managing team and 18 employees all as much competent and serious in their sphere (trading, marketing, packaging, delivery, accounting, technical, maintenance...), “Vignobles Arbeau” has been serving its faithful customers for 125 years and will ever keep doing it.
